GMG produced 2 concept notes focused on providing business technical assistance, capital and talent resources to catalyze the mini grid and productive use of energy sectors forward in Sub-Saharan Africa. One concept focuses on a venture studio/accelerator model that provides sufficient business tactical support, paired with early pilot to pre-seed/seed growth capital to help PUE actors scale and attract future investment, taking early innovations past a critical early growth stage. A second concept focuses on attracting and cultivating best-in-class finance and operations talent to the nascent, yet high-impact and critical PUE and mini grid sector to drive growth, efficiency, cross-sector collaboration and attract investment. Both concepts were developed in collaboration with key sector actors, and focused on critical areas of strengthening identified in the GMG Barriers & Opportunities with Appliances, PUE and Access to Finance Report.
